Skills boost fleet with new Enviro400 and Leopard purchases
Nottinghamshire based Skills Coaches, a family business with almost 100 years of history, has taken delivery of two high specification vehicles from Alexander Dennis Limited (ADL).
26th May 2017
One is an 11.5m 85-seat Enviro400 MMC double deck, complete with USB ports, high back Lazzerini seats, three-point seat belts, sophisticated PA, WiFi and CCTV systems, and alloy wheels. It is powered by a Cummins six-cylinder engine coupled to a ZF gearbox and will be used extensively for corporate contracts, private hire and school work.
The second vehicle is a 72-seat, 12.8m Plaxton Leopard with a Volvo B8 Euro6 engine and I-Shift transmission. Like the Enviro400 MMC it has been finished to a luxury specification and will work on private hires, day trips and holiday programmes.
The Skills Group, which was established in 1919 by Arthur Skill, has remained a family run business throughout the last century and now operates from a purpose-built, three-acre site in Bulwell, Nottinghamshire, from where it runs a fleet of over 80 vehicles.
Today Skills is managed by the founder’s grandsons, Nigel and Simon Skill, who are Managing Director and Finance Director respectively.
Nigel commented: “The business continues to spread its wings and we now operate extensively across Derbyshire, Leicestershire and South Yorkshire, providing service runs, corporate contracts, day trips, luxury tours, group travel and event support.
“We pride ourselves in offering class-leading holidays in the UK and Continental Europe and, whether supporting activities at home or abroad, our aim is to continuously offer leading-edge, stylish, best-in-class vehicles. In that respect both the new Enviro400 and the Plaxton Leopard fit the bill perfectly.”
