Kev’s Cars and Coaches, a family business based in Birmingham, continues to expand and strengthen its presence in the bus sector, having just taken delivery of three new Euro 6 Enviro200 single decks from Alexander Dennis Limited (ADL).
The move follows a successful conclusion to contract discussions with Transport for West Midlands, resulting in the company taking over services on Route 39, which runs between Longbridge and Woodgate Valley, on the south side of Birmingham.
Kevin Nind, who has been at the helm of the business for the past 30 years, having taken over from his father Peter, has progressively transitioned the Bromsgrove operation into one now focused entirely on coach and bus services.
He commented: “We have steadily repositioned the business and now have a fleet of 30 coaches providing contract services for education authorities, corporate hire, special events, sporting occasions, excursions and holidays.
“Our coach operations are well known across Birmingham and Worcestershire and, step by step, we are expanding our reach into bus services. This latest initiative follows a similar tender we won with Worcestershire County Council two years ago.”
Kevin added: “When it came to picking the right vehicle for the job it wasn’t a difficult decision. Our new Enviro200s are 8.9m, 30-seat models, which have a reputation second to none in terms of style, comfort and performance. The ADL guys also did a terrific job in delivering all three of the buses a month ahead of schedule, after the original route introduction date was suddenly brought forward.”
