Alexander Dennis, a subsidiary of NFI Group Inc., a leader in propulsion-agnostic bus and coach mobility solutions, today announced that it has delivered nine new Enviro200 midi and full-size single deckers to Carousel Buses, part of the Go-Ahead Group.

The new Alexander Dennis Enviro200 for Carousel Buses consist of six midibuses, seating up to 30 passengers at a vehicle length of 8.9m, and three 11.8m full-size single deckers offering up to 43 passenger seats. All have room for a wheelchair user alongside a separate buggy bay and are fitted with accessible passenger information including audio-visual next-stop announcements.

Four of the shorter buses are painted in a special purple livery for use on Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead-supported services 3, 3A, 4 and 9 in and around Maidenhead, whilst the three longer ones will be used on services 37 and 10/10A operating across the Borough and providing links to the nearby towns of High Wycombe and Staines.

The other two 8.9m buses are painted in the operator’s standard red livery and will be used across its ‘Carousel Country’ services in Buckinghamshire and Berkshire.

All are certified low-emission buses with Alexander Dennis’s SmartPack efficiency technology to reduce carbon and exhaust emissions. The system combines a stop-start function on the buses’ four and six-cylinder engines with e-cooling and smart auxiliary load management.[1]

“This order for nine new buses is the largest single order for new vehicles that Carousel has ever placed”

Luke Marion, Managing Director of Carousel Buses, said: “We’re already a major operator of the Alexander Dennis Enviro200 product at Carousel, with 29 such vehicles already in the fleet and so we know our customers will respond well to these new vehicles. This order for nine new buses is the largest single order for new vehicles that Carousel has ever placed, and we’ve added new features such as camera mirror systems to these vehicles which we know will go down well with our driving team.”

Mark Ballam, National Account Manager for Alexander Dennis, said: “We’re delighted to continue to support the Go-Ahead Group as it invests in its regional bus fleets across England, with 74 new low-emission buses delivered to date this year.

“These nine Alexander Dennis Enviro200 provide a state-of-the-art upgrade for Carousel Buses passengers across Buckinghamshire and Berkshire, with comfortable seats and the latest passenger information standards included alongside USB device charging, as well as for drivers and engineers who will benefit from the easy handling and maintenance of our best-selling single deckers.”
