Cheetah XL proves a winner for Cornwall family business

Based in Truro, at the heart of Cornwall, Hopley’s Coaches is enjoying one of its most successful spells ever, which is a big statement for a family-run organisation that has been in operation for over 50 years.

The purchase of a Plaxton Cheetah XL in the summer of this year has played a key role in boosting the company’s fortunes, “filling the middle ground” in a fleet of 24 vehicles that includes midi buses, coaches large and small, and double deck buses.

Nick Hopley, Managing Director of the company, is ably supported by his sons Matt and Robert and has been delighted with the performance of his new 9.6m., Euro6, 230 bhp, Cheetah XL.

He commented: “Filling the middle ground in our fleet was an important step and the Cheetah XL has worked out brilliantly. We looked at a lot of rival vehicles but I am delighted that we settled on the 36-seat Cheetah XL model.

“Airport transfers have become an important part of our business, serving Exeter, Bristol, Gatwick and Heathrow, and the Cheetah XL is ideal for the job. In capacity terms it fits the bill perfectly and we have also had superb fuel consumption from it.

“Add to that comfort factors like the leg room, foot and arm rests, air conditioning, reclining seats, reading lights throughout, DVD units and safety belts, and we really couldn’t have asked for more.”
