Irish operator Aircoach has taken delivery of seven more Plaxton Panther B11R coaches, which now dominate their fleet of 40 vehicles.
This is the fifth time in three years they have returned to the Plaxton-Volvo combination and all seven of the new 53-seat executive coaches are set to go into operation on the company’s non-stop express service from Belfast to Dublin city centre, operating 22 times per day.
Allen Parker, Managing Director of Aircoach, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of FirstGroup plc, said: “We purchased our first B11R in 2014 and have since added a further 32 to our fleet, with this new order taking the total up to 39. The vehicles are popular with our drivers and the reliability we know we can expect from Plaxton and Volvo helps us provide a quality service to our customers.
“We have had a very good experience with our previous Plaxton Panthers, so when the time came to expand our fleet we had no hesitation in repeating the order. The B11R also comes out on top when considering the highly efficient Euro VI engine, which really has a positive impact on our fuel costs.
“In addition, we receive excellent support and advice from the Plaxton and Volvo sales and support teams, led by Mark Ballam and David Porter respectively. They both understand our requirements and those of our passengers perfectly and this has made the purchasing process seamless.”
Mark Ballam, Commercial Manager at Plaxton Coach, commented: “It is a pleasure to support the on-going success story at Aircoach with yet another delivery of Panther coaches built on reliable and fuel-efficient Volvo chassis.
“Their choice of the Panther reflects the versatility of this model, which is equally at home on city-to-airport transfers or on non-stop express services.”
Aircoach is Ireland's leading private bus and coach operator providing a range of high frequency, quality scheduled coach services between Dublin Airport, the city and its suburbs, as well as non-stop express services connecting the airport with Cork and Belfast. Aircoach also operates all staff and car park shuttle bus services at Dublin Airport and provides private hire services.
