Spencer Graham Coaches, a fast-growing business operating out of Silloth, near Carlisle, has taken delivery of a new 53-seat, 12.8m Plaxton Panther.
It will operate on contract work and private hires and represents a further step in the resurgence of the business, which was acquired two years ago by Ricky Robinson and his partner Emma, who now run the coach operation alongside Robinson Car & Commercial, a company they founded in 2010.
Ricky commented: “We have come a long way in the last few years and now have 10 vehicles in the coach operation, eight drivers, and a total of 15 employees across the two businesses. The new Panther is an important step in the next phase of our business growth strategy. It gives us a further string to our bow and, I am confident, will not only support current activities but create new opportunities.
“The Panther has a reputation second to none, both as a workhorse and as a stylish executive vehicle with passenger and driver appeal, all of which represents a powerful proposition.
“Prior to making our new acquisition we visited the Plaxton facility at Scarborough with Charlie Miller, the company’s area sales manager, and were impressed with the set-up, the people and their aftermarket support team. In the end, it wasn’t a difficult decision and we now look forward to reaping the benefits.”
Ricky and Emma’s new coach is a B8R Euro6 model with I-Shift transmission, three-point safety belts, Brusa Extend 300 seats, Thermo King X900 air conditioning, sophisticated Bosch radio and PA system, plus CCTV cameras.
