A luxurious Enviro400 double deck from Alexander Dennis Limited (ADL) has joined the 30-plus fleet operated by one of Scotland’s most successful coach and bus hire companies, Doig’s of Glasgow.
The business, which can trace its roots back almost 70 years, is run by father and son team Andy and Iain Forsyth from the company’s Melbourne Street headquarters in central Glasgow.
In addition to being an established part of the transport landscape in the West of Scotland, Doig’s of Glasgow is famous for its role in providing official, luxury vehicles for prestigious, high profile events such as the Commonwealth Games and the Ryder Cup, and for transporting visiting football teams such as Barcelona, Juventus, Benfica, Zenit St. Petersburg and Spartak Moscow.
The new 11.5m 86-seat double deck is a low emission model powered by a Cummins 6.7 litre Euro6 engine with a ZF Ecolife gearbox. It has driver’s air-con, air chillers, LED staircase and under-seat lighting, ferry lift, alloy wheels, 10-camera CCTV, a low bridge warning system, CD and radio speakers, tinted windows, full leather seats with double padding and contrast stitching, and a wood effect finish to the floors.
Iain Forsyth commented: “Our aim is to provide the very best in modern, luxury passenger transport and our new Enviro400 fits the bill perfectly. It combines high capacity, style and comfort, and is ideal for large groups that want to travel together. It is already proving popular for school excursions, weddings and corporate outings.”
