Award winning Lakeside Coaches, the largest operator of its type in Shropshire, has pounced on the opportunity to strengthen its fleet with the introduction of two new Plaxton Panther coaches.
Both vehicles are 12.8m 53-seat B11R models with I-Shift transmission. They have three-point safety belts throughout, reclining seats, USB charging points, servery and toilet facilities, and join a flagship fleet of 64 vehicles that is long established as one of the best in the industry.
Former winner of the coveted Coach Operator of the Year title, Lakeside operates local bus services across much of Shropshire as well as an extensive fleet of 50-plus coaches for private hires, school contracts, excursions and holiday programmes.
Managing Director Neal Hall commented: “Part of our business philosophy is to continuously invest in the future and to stay in the vanguard of the industry with modern, stylish vehicles that set the pace in terms of passenger appeal and performance. Our relationship with Plaxton goes back many years and our new Panthers will go straight into operation on tour programmes running across the UK and in Continental Europe.”
Having two years ago acquired land and buildings adjacent to its Ellesmere headquarters, Lakeside went on to complete a major investment programme that extended and modernised its entire HQ facility, including the provision of more workshop capacity and additional parking space.
Today, it continues to invest in the future.
Neal commented: “Part of that revitalisation programme included investment in three critical factors, our people, our products and our customers. These aspects continue to be at the forefront of our thinking and the new Panthers are an example of our determination to remain focused on ensuring that these pillars of the business remain connected.”
