Edward Thomas adds Plaxton Leopard as business continues to thrive

Published: 10 Sep 2019

Family-run business Edward Thomas & Son, one of the longest established and most respected coach operators in the South East of England, has introduced a new Plaxton Leopard to its fleet of 38 vehicles.

The new addition is a top of the range 12.8m 72-seat B8R model, powered by a D8K engine and I-Shift transmission. It complies fully with the recently introduced Ultra Low Emission Zone in London and will support the school contract services provided by the company across Surrey, as well as the wide range of corporate services and private hires undertaken in London and the South East.

Established over 70 years ago by the late Edward Thomas, the business is now led by his son Ivan, who took over the reins in 1973, and who is supported by his daughter Kerry Lovell and nephew Neil Seager, both of whom are key players on the administrative side of the business.

Ivan commented: “The industry has changed a lot in 70 years but I like to think that our reputation goes before us. Our aim is to provide competitively priced, quality, best-in-class services and to do that we need market leading vehicles. The Plaxton range is modern, stylish and performs outstandingly well, hence 80% of our coaches are from the Scarborough based operation. Business is about relationships and this one is working well.”
