Fernhill Travel, a family run business based in Bracknell, Surrey, has introduced a state-of-the-art Plaxton Panther to its ever-growing fleet of ULEZ-compliant luxury coaches.
The new 12.8m 61-seat model has air conditioning throughout, three-point safety belts, USB charging points, CCTV, reversing cameras and alloy wheels. It is powered by a D8K engine with I-Shift transmission and has gone straight into service as part of the company’s executive fleet, which provides corporate services and private hires across Berkshire, London, the Home Counties and the South of England.
Simon Rowland, Fernhill's Managing Director, commented: “We have a long and successful relationship with Plaxton and more than 50% of our coach fleet is now ULEZ compliant. This is a vital factor as so many of our operations involve travel in and around London, crisscrossing the new ultra-low emission zone in the process.
“I'm particularly pleased that the new Panther carries the name of Frank Holgate as part of the livery. He was the founding father of the business in 1979 hence we are celebrating our 40th anniversary this year. He is delighted with the gesture, as are his sons Martin and Richard, both of whom remain actively involved as directors of the company.”
Speaking about the new Panther, Simon added: “It is ideal for our type of business. It can tackle a vast range of jobs and has a reliability record second to none. Combine that with a quality, luxury finish and it ticks all the right boxes.”
Fernhill Travel is part of the Rowgate Group, which incorporates White Bus, Berkshire's oldest independent bus and coach operator, providing services across Surrey, Windsor and Maidenhead, and Bracknell Forest. It will celebrate its 100 anniversary in 2021.
