Prentice of Haddington adds third ADL Enviro200 low carbon bus to its fleet

Published: 07 Apr 2021

Alexander Dennis Limited (“ADL”), a subsidiary of NFI Group Inc. (“NFI”), one of the world’s leading independent global bus manufacturers, today announced that it has delivered a third low-carbon Alexander Dennis Enviro200 single deck bus to Prentice of Haddington.

The vehicle – which joins two other identical vehicles delivered in January 2021 – is 10.8m long and fitted with ADLs award-winning SmartPack efficient diesel technology, developed in-house by the manufacturer. This saves fuel and reduces emissions by combining engine stop/start and electrically driven cooling fans with the smart management of alternator and air compressor to only charge during vehicle deceleration when they place no additional load on the engine. The Enviro200 with SmartPack is certified as a Low Emission Bus by the UKs Zemo Partnership.

With 41 fully seatbelted ADL SmartSeats, the new bus provides additional room for social distancing as well as offering dedicated wheelchair and buggy bays along with free WiFi and USB charging points at every seat.

This is the third ADL Enviro200 vehicle that family-owned Scottish operator Prentice has taken delivery of this year.

Managing Director Ross Prentice said: We are really pleased to take delivery of another new Enviro200 bus. It’s important to us that we minimise our impact on the environment while delivering the quality of services that our customers expect and these vehicles offer the ideal solution.

We have worked with ADL for a long time now and we look forward to working together for many  more years to come.”

Charlie Miller, ADL Sales Account Manager for Scotland & North West England, commented: With this further order, Prentice of Haddington are again showing their commitment to delivering low-carbon, high quality buses for their customers. It’s always a pleasure to work with this family-run operator.”

Prentice of Haddington was founded in 1991 and provides local bus services, school buses and coach hire. Regular investment in new vehicles – always built to the latest environmental standards as part of a programme to minimise the companys environmental impact which also includes the exclusive use of rainwater to wash vehicles – and a focus on customer care have seen the company win awards as one of the UK’s top independent bus operators.
