Alexander Dennis, a subsidiary of NFI Group Inc., a leader in propulsion-agnostic bus and coach mobility solutions, today announced that it has supplied an Enviro400 double deck bus to English independent operator Orion Travel.

The Enviro400 is the first ever double decker bought new by the company, which provides corporate hospitality, private hire, and school and college services across Greater Manchester. It is also the first bus that Orion Travel has bought directly from Alexander Dennis.

With a length of 11.5m, the new bus offers 85 seats, with three-point belts fitted to all fixed seats. The wide low-floor entrance speeds up boarding and alighting, as well as allowing wheelchair users and other passengers with reduced mobility to get on board easily.

Leigh Mitchell, Director at Orion Travel, said: “Our first brand-new double decker is a significant step in our continued investment in the modern Orion Travel fleet. The Alexander Dennis Enviro400 is a great asset for us. The high capacity means we can put it to work on school and college contracts, while the specification with a digital tachograph allows flexible use on private hires and other business opportunities.”

Simon Wood, Regional Sales Manager for Alexander Dennis, added: “We’re honoured that Orion Travel has chosen Alexander Dennis for its first ever brand-new double decker. The Enviro400 offers a perfect combination of capacity and economy which will allow Orion to maximise the return on this investment by employing it on a wide range of work.”
