The Enviro400 SmartHybrid features smart management of alternator and air compressor, engine stop/start technology and electrically-driven cooling fans, and combines these with a 48V mild hybrid system that recovers kinetic energy during vehicle deceleration, stores it onboard, and uses it to provide a torque assist to the driveline when required during subsequent acceleration.

Supercapacitor energy storage means there is no need for component replacement during the vehicle’s normal operating life, and the mild hybrid architecture means no high voltage training is required for maintenance staff.
