Innovation is key to Alexander Dennis. We continuously invest in developing clean buses that are as comfortable as they are reliable, and now offer the market's widest range of low and zero emission buses to meet operators' and cities' individual requirements.
Across our range of Enviro buses, we offer a wide range of passenger-centric specification options designed to create a premium journey experience that fosters patronage growth. Drivers, passengers and other road users benefit from our focus on safety as Alexander Dennis invests in the early adoption of new safety technologies.
Customer-focused specification options for the Alexander Dennis Enviro range include:
The Alexander Dennis SmartSeat features a contemporary design with ergonomically formed backrests and seat upholstery as part of a robust and durable construction with a low total weight. Passenger amenities are accommodated by a seatback console, and USB power sockets can be integrated into the back shells or mounted on the seat frame to suit operators' preferences. Care has been taken to ensure the easy replacement of parts, maximising vehicle uptime.
The SmartSeat has been developed to ADL's demanding brief by a market-leading supplier and is fully supported through ADL's best-in-class aftermarket organisation.
SmartVision and MirrorEye are Camera Monitor Systems to replace external mirrors on Enviro buses.
The view from the cameras is digitally processed to compensate for lighting, shadows or glare while it is transmitted to the displays, which are mounted inside the cab to eliminate reflections from windows. The systems offer the driver a normal mirror view at the top of the monitor and a wide angle view in the lower half. Screen brightness adjusts automatically to give excellent visibility day and night.
The systems maintain image quality in all conditions. Software removes any distortion from rain drops or dirt on the lens, while an optional camera heater clears ice or fogging.
In addition to improved visibility for drivers, operators benefit from reduced risk of mirror damage or injury to passengers or pedestrians.
Alexander Dennis has supported the development of Transport for London’s Bus Safety Standard, announced in 2018, and is at the forefront of introducing the standard's improvements to the London bus fleet.
