Alexander Dennis, a subsidiary of NFI Group Inc., a leader in propulsion-agnostic bus and coach mobility solutions, today announced that it has recently supplied seven new Enviro200 single-deck buses to Welsh operator Edwards Coaches of Llantrisant.

The investment comes as Edwards Coaches celebrates its 100th anniversary providing local bus services, coach tours and private hires.

Painted in a new livery based on the operator’s iconic metallic blue base, the new Alexander Dennis Enviro200 low-emission buses enhance local links in Rhondda Cynon Taff between Pontypridd, Llantrisant and Cardiff on routes 90, 100 and 400.

Edwards Coaches has chosen three different vehicle lengths to meet patronage demands and operational requirements of each route whilst retaining a consistent, smart image across the fleet of new buses.  Three 10.8m 40-seaters and three 9.7m buses with 34 passenger seats are joined by a nimble 8.9m vehicle with 30 seats. All have room for wheelchair users and buggies and are fitted with audio-visual next-stop information and induction hearing loops to provide accessible information.

Alexander Dennis SmartPack efficiency technology is fitted to improve fuel economy and reduce the buses’ exhaust emissions by up to 24%, thus contributing positively to Edwards Coaches’ environmental performance. The system combines engine stop/start, e-cooling and auxiliary load management.[1]

“Alexander Dennis have been great in preparing the buses for us and finishing them to our requirements.”

Simon Ingham, Commercial Manager for Edwards Coaches, said: “We’re delighted to round off the Edwards Coaches centenary year with this investment into new buses in the local bus fleet, bringing latest accessibility standards to our routes and enhancing the experience for our passengers. Alexander Dennis have been great in preparing the buses for us and finishing them to our requirements.”

Simon Wood, Regional Sales Manager for Alexander Dennis, said: “We’re proud to support Edwards Coaches in their centenary year with a tailored fleet of Enviro200 buses that combine efficiency, accessibility and reliability. These vehicles are a great example of how our low-emission technology and flexible design help operators meet the needs of their communities while reducing their environmental impact. We sincerely thank Edwards Coaches for choosing Alexander Dennis for the first time since 2018.”
