Alexander Dennis, a subsidiary of NFI Group Inc., a leader in propulsion-agnostic bus and coach mobility solutions, today announced that it has supplied a new Enviro200 single decker to English independent operator Taw and Torridge Coaches.
The new low-emission bus upgrades the family business’s service 31 on the North Devon coast, which it provides in partnership with Devon County Council. Starting at Ilfracombe’s picturesque harbour, the route moves inland to Mullacott Cross before descending steeply from Mortehoe to reach Woolacombe and its beach, often ranked as one of the best in Britain.
Liveried externally in Taw and Torridge’s distinctive sky blue and silver, the Enviro200’s bespoke interior offers 40 seats. Apart from five tip-up seats in the wheelchair and separate buggy bay, they are comfortable high-back Alexander Dennis SmartSeats trimmed in two-tone e-leather and double-padded where possible. Bright wood-effect flooring contrasts with the seats for an attractive overall experience.
Alexander Dennis’s SmartPack efficiency technology brings down operating costs through lower fuel consumption and eligibility for Bus Service Operators Grant (BSOG) incentive payments. Exhaust emissions are reduced in the process, benefitting the environment.[1]
“The Enviro200 is a great fit for our service routes, delivering efficiency and substantial passenger capacity”
Taw & Torridge Managing Director Mark Hunt said: “We’re delighted to upgrade our customers’ journeys this year with this brand new Enviro200 single decker that Alexander Dennis has built to our specification. This allows us to reallocate the similar bus we bought in 2021 from core journeys on our popular service 31 to supporting duties. The Enviro200 is a great fit for our service routes, delivering efficiency and substantial passenger capacity in a vehicle that navigates North Devon’s narrow and steep lanes with ease.”
Mark Taylor, Regional Sales Manager for Alexander Dennis, said: “We’re proud to support Taw and Torridge Coaches in enhancing vital rural connectivity with this bespoke Enviro200. Designed to meet the unique demands of North Devon’s scenic but challenging terrain, this vehicle combines comfort, efficiency and accessibility. It’s a great example of how our buses deliver real benefits for operators, passengers and the environment alike.”
