Alexander Dennis Limited (“ADL”), a subsidiary of NFI Group Inc. (“NFI”), one of the world’s leading independent global bus manufacturers, today announced that it is again a proud sponsor of the IRTE Skills Challenge, run by the Society of Operational Engineers, as it returns for its 2021 edition. As supplier of the industry’s widest range of low, ultra low and zero emission vehicles, and a pioneer in advancing technologies, ADL is committed to supporting talent within the industry to keep up with the rapid pace of change currently being experienced.

As part of its sponsorship ADL has provided an Enviro200 – Britain’s best-selling single deck bus built to a comprehensive specification including comfortable ADL SmartSeats and the award-winning SmartPack efficient diesel technology developed in-house by ADL – with a deliberate fault for the contestants to find and fix during the testing week at the S&B Automotive Academy in Bristol from 21st to 25th June. ADL has also arranged a zero-emission capable Enviro400ER electric range bus for hybrid system supplier BAE Systems to set a similar challenge.

ADL firmly believes that schemes like the IRTE Skills Challenge are vital to the success of the industry as they make a valuable contribution to up-skilling technicians and identifying knowledge gaps within the industry, and welcomes the return of the event after a year’s absence due to the pandemic.

As technology progresses at breakneck speed, with an ever-increasing emphasis on electrical systems, it is imperative that the industry remains on the front foot with training for engineers and, as part of its best-in-class Aftermarket offering, ADL is delighted to be able to help facilitate and promote training for technicians.

With its own IMI accredited training school, which has seen over 9,000 graduates pass through its doors to date, and online training as part of its brand new AD24 digital Aftermarket platform, ADL is playing its part in equipping the technicians of the future with the right tools to succeed.

Paul Hopwood, ADL Training Manager, said: “We’re delighted to be a part of the IRTE Skills Challenge again as it ties in with our ethos of providing our customers with outstanding aftermarket services. It is fundamental that the knowledge, skills and dedication of technicians is recognised and rewarded. We wish all teams taking part in the Skills Challenge this year the best of luck.”
