Alexander Dennis, a subsidiary of NFI Group Inc., one of the world’s leading independent global bus manufacturers, today announced that it has delivered a new Plaxton Panther coach to Glasgow operator Abbey Coaches.

The new 57/59-seater with demountable toilet is built on the dependable Volvo B8R chassis and finished to a comprehensive specification with new Vogelsitze Magnio seats and wood-effect flooring. Destination displays and a side-mounted wheelchair lift allow it to comply with PSV Accessibility Regulations (PSVAR).

Abbey Coaches operates services and hires on behalf of local government, businesses and private customers with its modern fleet of around 20 coaches, most of them Plaxton vehicles.

“We have already placed an order for another of the same type for delivery next year.”

Christine Walker, who manages Abbey Coaches along with her son Graeme, said: “The flexibility and versatility of Plaxton coaches is ideal for our business and the varied work we undertake for our customers. This is why in addition to this year’s new Panther, we have already placed an order for another of the same type for delivery next year.”

Charlie Miller, Retail Sales Director at Alexander Dennis, added: “We’re delighted to do business with Christine and Graeme again, not just for the new Panther but also their first used Leopard from us, which not only adds capacity but is Euro VI-compliant for low emission zones. Abbey Coaches’ loyalty to us as a business is very much appreciated and never taken for granted. It’s been a pleasure to deal with them again and support them in their purchases.”
