Alexander Dennis Limited (“ADL”), a subsidiary of NFI Group Inc. (“NFI”), one of the world’s largest independent global bus manufacturers, today announced that it has delivered six Plaxton Panorama double deck coaches to megabus, one of the UK’s leading value coach operators. Offering 87 seats, the coaches will be used on megabus services between England and Scotland.

The new Plaxton Panorama coaches introduce a new interior for megabus, enhancing the passenger experience and complementing other recent innovations such as the option for passengers to reserve the most popular seats at the upstairs front and around tables on the lower deck. The 14.5m long coaches fully meet PSV Accessibility Regulations, with wheelchair users boarding the coach through the rear door.

megabus will use the coaches on its busy Anglo-Scottish services between London, Manchester, Glasgow and Aberdeen.

ADL’s Plaxton coach division has a long history of designing and delivering high-capacity coaches for megabus, dating back to the introduction of the UK’s first 15m long single deck coaches in 2007 and having been continued more recently with the Plaxton Elitei interdeck coach, for which megabus was the launch customer.

Mark Ballam, Commercial Manager Coach at ADL, comments: “As the last British coachbuilder, Plaxton’s strength is in working closely with our customers to design the solutions they need. With the introduction of the Plaxton Panorama double deck coach to megabus, we are delighted to continue this strong partnership and deliver highest seating capacity for the network’s busiest route.”
