Alexander Dennis, a subsidiary of NFI Group Inc., one of the world’s leading independent global bus manufacturers, today announced that it has supplied two Plaxton Leopard coaches to coach operator Thornes Independent of Selby.

The new coaches are built on the Volvo B8R chassis to the Leopard’s shorter, 12.2m length and have two different seating configurations, seating 53 passengers in a 2+2 arrangement and 70 passengers in a 3+2 layout respectively. They meet PSV Accessibility Regulations (PSVAR) with wheelchair lifts and destination displays.

Director Jane Thornes welcomed the new coaches: “This new pair of Plaxton Leopard coaches is a great addition to our fleet in our 75th anniversary year. They are manoeuvrable vehicles that have a great seating capacity and meet PSVAR requirements, giving us lots of flexibility in how we use them.”

Alexander Dennis Regional Sales Manager Martin Dunleavy said: “It’s a delight to see these new Plaxton coaches join a family business with a proud history that is investing for the future. Thornes Independent is renowned for its immaculate fleet, which includes many Plaxton vehicles, and it’s an honour to continue to support this great business.”
